Filter Elements
A diesel particulate filter has to grant two things: It has to filter the harmful diesel particles out of the exhaust gases and it has to be able, by regeneration, to get rid of these particles afterwards. Filtration and Regeneration are therefore the two main functions of a diesel particulate filter.
The Filtration is done by a special filter medium. The 20 years of experience has shown that a ceramic based filter medium made from Silicon Carbide (SiC) best fulfils the requirements . The combination of excellent soot collection rate and low backpressure performance qualifies SiC to be one of the best available materials for filtering soot particles.
The advantages of the hightech ceramic in an overview:
- Excellent soot collection rate
- Low backpressure
- Thermal stability
- Chemical resistance
- Thermal conductivity
- Advantages of Silicon Carbide
- ...the value for the customer is...
- Excellent soot collection rate: over 99%
- Emissions reduction regulations will be fulfilled
- Low backpressure in the exhaust
- Good soot loading capabilities; low danger of damaging the turbo charger or the engine
- Good thermal stability
- Long life time of the filter; it is able to stand the exothermal reaction of the soot during the regeneration process
- Good chemical resistance
- Long life time of the filter; corrosive substances in the exhaust gases are irrelevant to the filter
- Good thermal conductivity
- The filter is regenerated completely at simultaneously short regeneration times, due to the constituent heat dispersion in the filter
